Teach
English as a Second Language or Citizenship Class in Chinatown
For many new immigrants, learning English is a first step to becoming a full
participant in American society. Help them take that first step by becoming
a volunteer teacher or tutor in our English or Citizenship classes.
English classes help students improve their communication
skills. Citizenship classes help students prepare for the U.S. citizenship
test.
Volunteers work in a team to plan and teach the
class. This fun and rewarding experience gives you a chance to make
a difference in the lives of others. A strong desire to help and
work with new immigrants is a must. Prior teaching experience is
helpful. Bilingual skills are not required.
Fall cycle is from September to December. Spring
cycle is from March to May. To learn more how you can volunteer for
this program, contact us at 212-274-1891.
